Say that three times fast! Marmara Marble is a beautiful white and grey stone with striking linear veins. Quarried on the Turkish island of Marmara, the island is named for the stone rather than the other way around. The name originates from the Greek words meaning “Crystalline Rock” and “Shining Stone” and the island has become famous for its white marble.
This marble is a great option for walls, floors, and countertops. At European Marble, we have it in both tile and slab, so there are really no limits to how you can design a space around it.
This Marmara bathroom in Park City, Utah was installed by us on a project with Jaffa Group Architects which is a Design/Build firm that we partner with often. For this project, we combined the vein cut marble with Graphite Marble slab on the tub deck and vanity top.

This shower that we installed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming has Marmara marble slab walls and a pebble tile floor. The star of the show for us is the bench! We custom fabricate marble slabs into interesting shapes all the time, but we really love it when we get to take a flat slab and turn it into a curved work of art like we did here.

As graphic and modern as Marmara looks, it can easily be combined with other stones like a classic Statuary White marble. This fireplace is a perfect example of such a combination, with the Statuary floor.

This bathroom was designed by Tally Stevens in our office, who specializes in creating unique interior designs with tile and stone for our friend and client Samantha who owns the local company Authentique Paper. Tally collaborated with Dave Chamberlain of Chamberlain Cabinetry for the beautiful vanity which we topped with Pental Quartz in Cascade and used Marmara tile on the bathroom floor and slab for the custom fabricated shower benches while putting in classic elements like the hexagon tile shower floor and white subway tile walls. Even the inside of the round window is tiled! Tally used Artistic Tile’s Little Satch glass mosaic in BeBop White for that area.
